Green Tea and Brown Rice in the GM Diet

The GM diet, also called the General Motors healthy eating plan, is an extremely famous diet, which promised people to shed weight within a short period of time. It is actually a collection of many diets, which were based on the food consumption patterns of ordinary people. This diet was introduced in response to the rising case of obesity all over the world. In this diet a person is permitted to consume certain food items or select from certain food groups every day. The concept of the GM diet is based upon the fact that eating habits affect the level of energy and stamina of a person. It is therefore hoped that a person would be able to live up to his or her full potential, even if it requires a lot of exercise.

So, exactly how will you know that you are following the right diet? The short-term aim of the GM diet is to enable you to shed off some weight and ensure that you begin to drop off the excess pounds in a steady manner. Long-term weight-loss aims to enable you to shed off a larger amount of weight and also ensure that you start to increase your level of energy and stamina. You must therefore ensure that you research well and choose the diet that suits you the best. Some of the facts you should be aware of before choosing the right diet plan are as follows:

* The meals that are permitted for you are five a day, consisting of five to seven small meals. These meals are meant to be combined into five to seven small meals in order to enable your body to digest them properly. Also, while on the GM diet you are not permitted to consume any table sugar or other sweeteners, coffee, tea or alcohol. These three products cause damage to the digestive tract and interfere with the absorption of essential nutrients and vitamins from the food you eat.

* There are certain calories that the GM diet permits and all these should be consumed in moderation. These include those that are found in fried foods and those that are added sugars to food. This is because the absorption of these calories is impaired in the digestive system when these are added to the food. Also, it is important to note that you should not exceed eighty-five percent of your daily calorie intake, which means that an intake of around two thousand calories a day is ideal. This helps to ensure that the body burns its existing fat reserves as well as consumes all the calories it takes in.

* As you might have guessed, there will also be a restricted consumption of certain foods in the GM diet menu. For example, proteins, vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates and unsaturated fats are all allowed in the GM diet. However, this does not mean that you can eat anything that you like, so long as it does not contain these three substances. Foods such as beans, lentils, peas, mushrooms, spinach, cauliflower, cabbage, beans, rhubarb, carrots, spinach, sweet potatoes, mayonnaise, tuna, bananas, nuts and any other fruits and vegetables containing these substances are also permitted.

The chief objective of the GM diet is to provide an abundant supply of essential vitamins and minerals while minimizing the consumption of calories. The inclusion of green tea and brown rice is one way that these objectives are being met. Green tea is extracted from a variety of plants and is often used in the production of various beverages. Brown rice is used in place of white rice in many products, such as ice-cream, milk, breakfast cereals and snack foods. These food items are a rich source of antioxidants, which are beneficial in fighting against cancer. Furthermore, both of these food items have a lot of vitamin E, which has been proven to be very effective in reducing the incidence of heart disease.
